We're looking for a Solar Service Technician to join our growing team and help ensure that solar installations continue to operate at peak efficiency.
Job Description:
As a Solar Service Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of residential and small commercial solar power systems. You’ll work directly with customers and internal teams to ensure solar systems operate and communicate properly, diagnosing and addressing any performance issues that may arise. You will be responsible for communicating findings and photos.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine troubleshooting and repair of solar PV systems, including panels, centralized inverters, micro inverters, optimizers, wiring, revenue grade meters and other components.
Conduct inspections to ensure system performance and installation practices meet industry standards.
Replace solar modules as needed, in order to ensure system production meets expectations.
Troubleshoot and replace Enphase micro inverters and SolarEdge Optimizers, as needed.
Configure and commission monitoring systems after equipment is replacement.
Work with technical support in order to troubleshoot on-site components and start the RMA process, as needed.
Properly document findings, solutions and repairs with photos.
Communicate with office staff, providing brief service reports and photos, as well as explaining technical issues in a clear and understandable manner.
Complete necessary repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
Work with office staff to ensure proper materials are requested and provided in order to conduct necessary repairs.
Adhere to all relevant safety protocols and company procedures while on-site.
Assist with new installations and system upgrades as needed.
Opportunity for additional compensation with the installation of residential EV Chargers.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in the solar field required - 3 years. Do not apply without solar experience please.
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certification is a plus.
Enphase and SolarEdge certifications are a plus.
Knowledge and experience with Fronius, ABB and SMA products is a plus.
Strong knowledge of solar power systems, electrical systems, and how they tie into the home's electrical system.
Experience using different monitoring platforms and commissioning applications.
Comfortable working at heights and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to self-manage productively, throughout the day.
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues.
Ability to take direction from off-site personnel.
Must have your own basic tools.
Willingness to travel to customer sites, as required.
Most projects are located in the Inland Empire, Orange County and North San Diego with occasional travel to Palm Desert and Los Angeles County.
Home every night, no long term travel whatsoever.
$25-$28/hr. - Compensation based on experience.
