The Field Service Technician performs and supports environmental services fieldwork, including industrial cleaning, tank cleaning, excavation, waste packaging and disposal, site demolition, emergency spill response, remediation system installation and site cleanup projects.
Duties
Understand and follow Costera Health and Safety work practices, policies, and procedures.
Follow policies and procedures for control and storage of hazardous substances.
Attend safety training as required.
Comply with the Random Drug Testing Program.
Perform environmental cleanup activities including but not limited to chemical and water spills, non-hazardous and hazardous waste and toxic materials, and equipment decontamination.
Sweep, dig, shovel, lift, pressure wash and move drums to assist in cleanup or waste removal.
Operate equipment used in hazardous waste, excavation, and demolition activities.
Occasionally work long hours and overtime, with possible overnight stays (hotel and meals paid by company).
Complete all appropriate paperwork including service receipts and submit to designated management.
Other responsibilities and tasks may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred.
1 – 3 years of environmental services and hazardous materials industry experience preferred, but not required.
Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company standards and current DMV printout, required.
40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred (training available).
Confined Space Entry certification preferred (training available).
Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local hazardous waste and safety regulations preferred (training available).
Strong attention to detail.
Safety conscious.
Ability to work productively without constant supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management, and to work well in a team environment.
Ability to remain positive and adapt under adverse circumstances.

Twisting / turning: frequent daily basis
Lift items over head: frequent daily basis
Standing: 6-8 hours daily
Sitting: often for several hours at a time while travelling
Crouching / stooping: prolonged periods
Lifting / carrying: frequent daily up to 50 lbs
Work in confined spaces or at heights.
Required to wear a variety of personal protection equipment as required including but not limited to Tyvek suits and respirators as needed.
Performing labor intensive activities in all weather conditions.
Work Schedule
Schedule will vary depending on workload, location of job sites and possible travel.
