Summary:
The Lot Porter plays a crucial role in the daily operations of a car dealership by maintaining the appearance and organization of the dealership's vehicle lot. This position ensures vehicles are clean, presentable, and appropriately positioned for customer viewing, as well as assists with various tasks to support the sales and service teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Maintenance and Presentation:
Wash, vacuum, and detail vehicles to ensure they are showroom-ready.
Perform light maintenance checks, including ensuring vehicles are fueled, tire pressure is correct, and fluids are topped off.
Lot Organization:
Organize and maintain the dealership lot to ensure vehicles are displayed professionally.
Move vehicles as directed to accommodate customer traffic and dealership promotions.
Monitor lot inventory for cleanliness, damage, or improper placement.
Customer Interaction:
Assist customers by retrieving vehicles for test drives.
Provide courteous and prompt assistance when directed by sales or service staff.
Support Sales and Service Teams:
Transport vehicles between dealership locations, service departments, or other facilities as needed.
Park and retrieve customer vehicles in a safe and timely manner.
Assist with general dealership maintenance tasks, such as cleaning workspaces or shoveling snow (seasonal).
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to all dealership policies and procedures.
Follow safety protocols when driving or handling vehicles.
Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to operate both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Previous experience in a similar role (preferred but not required).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, and move around the lot for extended periods.
Capability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Comfort with bending, kneeling, and reaching during vehicle detailing and maintenance tasks.
