DESCRIPTIONDESCRIPTION The City of Long Beach Technology & Innovation Department (TID) is seeking a highly qualified individual for a mostly remote work opportunity to serve as a Digital Inclusion Fellow (Assistant Administrative Analyst II-NC) to provide policy, administrative, and programmatic support for the City ’s D igital I nclusion I nitiative. The City’s Digital Inclusion Initiative strives to ensure that every resident has equitable access or use of digital inclusion resources and services regardless of their background, neighborhood, or identity. The Digital Inclusion Fellow will support TID in working on digital equity so that all Long Beach community members can attain the economic and social benefits of being digitally connected. Non-Career employees are allowed a maximum of 1,600 work hours available over a 12 month period and are considered temporary, at-will employees who are not typically eligible for benefits. However, non-career employees may qualify for health coverage and sick leave accruals subject to applicable federal and state provisions. THE DEPARTMENT The Technology & Innovation Department (TID) plans and develops the technology infrastructure for the City and provides a centralized resource for technology deployment and support throughout the City . The Department integrates people, processes, and technology to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of City services through the work of its 181 FTEs while operating on a FY 2023 annual operating budget of nearly $70 million and multi-year capital projects budget of $101 million. TID is organized into five bureaus: Business Operations, Digital Services, Enterprise Information Services, Infrastructure Services, and Technology Engagement & Support. The Department also manages LBTV, a production studio that develops custom programming and distributes City multimedia content via its broadcast TV station and social media platforms. Assist s in the support of content creation for the Digital Inclusion website, social media, marketing collateral, and events

Coordinate s community outreach and engagement activities including ( e.g. focus groups, community forums, community conversations).

Provide s programmatic and logistics coordination for the development, implementation and evaluation of the City of Long Beach’s Digital Inclusion Initiative programs.

Assist s in the support of grant writing and project management for Digital Inclusion Initiatives.

Check s and respond s to inquiries received via the Digital Inclusion Initiative email and hotline

Explore s creative solutions for digital inclusion programs.

E ngage s internal and external stakeholders to facilitate program implementation and delivery.

Performs o ther duties as assigned, including creat ing community outreach materials, policy memos, PowerPoint presentations, research and analysis, and assessments.

REQUIREMENTS TO FILE

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.

Professional, technical and/or paraprofessional experience (equivalent to an Administrative Aide I-II with the City of Long Beach, or higher) that offers specific and substantial preparation for the duties of the position may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Willingness to attend in-person community outreach and community partner meetings to reach those impacted by the digital divide.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Students currently in a master's program are encouraged to apply.

Working knowledge of equity and inclusion approaches.

Experience communicating and collaborating with diverse stakeholders from different backgrounds.

Strong writing, project management , and time management skills.

Strong research and analysis skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects.

Experience using Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and video conference applications

Experience in community outreach and engagement practices is a plus.

Spanish, Tagalog, or Khmer language proficiency is a plus.
