For second year need to have completed 1 year (12 months) of residency. For third year need to have completed 2 years (24 months) of residency. California law requires residents to obtain an independent practitioner?s license (Physician and Surgeon license) if they are graduates of a US medical or osteopathic school and have completed 2 years of residency training in the US. This license MUST be in effect before the 3rd year of residency training can commence. International medical graduates MAY apply for an independent practitioner?s license after successful completion of 2 years of residency training that includes at least 4 months of direct patient care; however they are not required to possess that license until completion of their 3rd year of residency training.PGY-1s Categorical PGY-1s get a balanced experience by rotating through the Medicine Wards ICU Cardiology service and Harbor-UCLA Medicine Wards. Additionally 3 months are dedicated to a combination of E.R. rotations and outpatient clinics. Preliminary PGY-1s spend more time in the ICU and have the option to rotate through Harbor-UCLA. On wards interns take day call every fourth day until 8pm and about 2 overnight calls per month on either Friday or Saturday. Both categorical and preliminary interns rotate on night float for 2 weeks at a time working an 7pm-8am shift with Friday and Saturday off. In the ICU interns are overnight every fourth night. ER and clinic rotations are call-free.St. Mary Medical Center participates in the NRMP program in which participants agree to abide by the NRMP match requirements and guidelines M.D.QualificationsOpened to Matched Residents only through NRMP program.

(Medical Doctor) degree or D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy) degree from accredited University. Graduate of LCME accredited medical school AOA accredited osteopathic medical school or acceptable equivalent medical school (at the discretion of the internship selection committee and Program Director).

Interest in post-graduate training in Internal Medicine

Acceptable performance in medical school as judged by Deans Letter letters of recommendation transcripts or other evaluation criteria. Acceptable performance on USMLE or COMLEX licensing examinations (USMLE 1 and 2 COMLEX 1 and 2) or equivalent examination acceptable to the internship selection committee and Program Director Acceptable score on in-person interview with faculty member.

Credentials and evaluations verified and acceptable to Program Director

No prior residency experience required for first year position. For second year need to have completed 1 year (12 months) of applicable residency training. For third year need to have completed 2 years (24 months) of applicable residency training residency
