The Controller position is primarily responsible for the corporate accounting and annual audit processes of the company. The Controller will work with and will be a full back up to the Finance Director. The Controller will be responsible for maintaining an adequate system of accounting records, and a broad set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Job Responsibilities:
Maintain General Ledgers, Balance Sheets, and Profit & Loss Statements
- Maintain a strong understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
- Process and maintain accounts payable and receivable cycle
- Prepare and maintain monthly bank reconciliations
- Assist with timely monthly close, including preparation of supporting schedules
Prepare and update Annual Budget
Prepare and maintain sales commission calculations
Review and approve all disbursements, check signing, ACH payments and cash management
Prepare share buy-back calculation
Prepare Quarterly Board Financial Package
Coordinate and execute Audit & Tax Returns with PwC
Coordinate and execute Fund LP Audit & Tax with Marcum
Maintain books and records for SFS LLC
Prepare Tax Projections
Renew all insurance policies (excluding health insurance)
Coordinate and execute Workman’s Compensation Audit
Review Vendor Agreements for execution
Prepare Investment Management Agreements
Support the Finance Director on ad hoc projects
Job Qualifications:
Ideal candidate must have experience working in public accounting in the financial services industry. Strong organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills are required.
CPA required
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Minimum 5 years public accounting experience
Knowledge and experience in the investment advisory industry
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and work extra hours when required to meet deadlines
Must be detail oriented, thorough and have strong analytical skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Must have initiative and thrive in a fast-paced setting
