POSITION SUMMARY: Customer Service Rep is responsible for accepting new bookings from customers, managing the related containers through the entire import or export process while simultaneously corresponding with customers, communicating with the port, and working with dispatch dispatching drivers, and accounting.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Processes customer orders and creates files for bookings
Manages bookings to include timely pick up/ delivery/ return to port
Requests and monitors last free day and return dates to avoid demurrage and per diem expenses
Manages/ oversees container availability, booking confirmations and vessel acceptance, as well as other container issues.
Schedules appointments and coordinates driver deliveries with dispatch
Performs clerical work as required
Performs all other duties or projects as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High school Diploma or higher preferred, minimum one (1) year related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work in a face-paced and at times, demanding environment
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and correspondence given in both verbal and written formats.
Ability to comprehend and effectively carry out written and verbal instructions
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, clients and employees within the company
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
