BTC is an after-school enrichment program designed to provide a safe, nurturing environment after school hours to school-aged children, K-5. The space will give children a truly enriching experience that is increasingly left out of the normal school curriculum. To complement the increasing emphasis on text-book based learning in schools, children at BTC will receive hands-on experience that is project-based and emergent in nature. We are a children-centered space fueled by our mission:
- To provide a "home away from home." One that is loving and nurturing for children
- To provide children with an enriching environment that will foster a passion for learning.
- To foster greater parental awareness of childhood development.
- To help strengthen the community and build partnerships among its members.
We are looking for after school teachers who share the same vision as we do and possess some or all of the following qualifications:
1. Minimum of 12 units ECE, BA is ok.
2. Has minimum 2 years experience working with school-aged children
3. Loves to be around children and has a passion for learning and excited to learn and explore new things with children
4. Loving, nurturing and has some experience with a humanistic approach to conflict resolution.
5. Lover of Science. Someone who is curious about how things work, and someone who loves to take children in nature hikes.
6. Creative. Someone who likes to think outside the box and interested in offering art activities that bring out the child's creative self. (Not cookie art). Someone with a background in visual or performing arts is a plus!
7. Energetic. Someone who likes to interact with children, not afraid to get dirty with them and willing to play with them. Someone who loves to play sports is a plus!
8. Teamplayer. Someone who is willing to collaborate with other teachers and likes to work in a positive environment, one that brings out each other's strengths.
9. Great Multi-tasker. Someone who is able to interact with children while supervising the entire group.
10. A Life Long Learner. BTC is a non-traditional after-school program that runs differently from other programs. We employ different things for a reason and we encourage our staff to self-develop and to try to learn new things.
11. Class B license is a plus!
12. CPR Certified is a plus!
We are in need of summer camp counselors who are available to work full time in the summer (8:45-5pm) and part time in the school year M-Th, from 2:00-6:15 pm, and Fridays 1-6:30PM
Will only consider applicants with minimum 12 units of ECE or a BA or BS
Pay Scale:
Lead Teacher: ($18-$22/hr)
Starting Salary: $18-$19/hr
Teacher Associate: ($17-$19/hr)
Starting Salary: 17-$18/hr
