Program: Vocational Nursing
1. Supervises and administers the program that includes structured daily activities, planning, implementation and evaluation
of the operating policies and procedures of the Vocational Nursing program.
2. Assists with ensuring the program’s quarterly and yearly average minimum pass rates on the NCLEX licensure
examination meet and/or exceeds the state’s average pass rate.
3. Oversees faculty in overall and day-to-day operation and guidance of didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction,
assignments, and scheduling of classes.
4. Ensures that faculty are recording daily class attendance and grades as required, completing, submitting and grading tests,
quizzes, lab skills/clinical assignments and homework timely and promptly.
5. Coordinates a plan to best observe, instruct, and evaluate students learning and clinical practical skills and faculty
performance which includes a direct observation and clinical assessment of skills in applicable setting for related area of
instruction.
6. Supervises all student clinical assignments and experiences ensuring that all program clinical objectives are met.
7. Plans and provides for the clinical experience as well as the appropriate documentation required by clinical affiliates in
order for students to be placed promptly in their clinical rotations/assignments.
8. Coordinates and monitors clinical affiliations/contracts, rotations, visits to clinical facilities, and maintains written record
on all clinical visits.
9. Maintains working relationships with affiliated clinical facilities, community agencies and with other health care
institutions.
10. Participates in the requirement, selection, orientation, and assignment of program faculty, staff, and students.
11. Develops and implements plans in the organization and revision of nursing curriculum, recommends establishment or
revision of policies and develops structures and standards of performance in both theory and clinical sessions.
12. Holds meetings as needed with nursing faculty to share information, guidelines and procedures, coordinates activities,
and to further communicate across the assigned department.
13. Addresses and resolves concerns and disputes between and among faculty and students of the assigned areas.
14. Participates in student retention activities such as coordinating with the department of student services for counseling,
remediation and tutorial.
15. Coordinates overall orientation of new faculty in theory and clinical with detailed orientation to school, program policies,
and clinical sites.
16. May perform other duties as assigned.
