Must have:
-BA or BS in education, psychology, counseling, nursing, social work, applied behavior analysis, behavioral medicine, speech and language, rehabilitation, marriage and family therapy, or a comparable degree in a human services field
-Driver’s license, reliable car, and proof of insurance
Must pass (once hired):
-TB test clearance
-Criminal background check (via the Live Scan Process)

K&L C.A.R.E., Inc. has led the Adaptive Skills Training field in the San Fernando Valley for 15 years since the agency’s establishment in 2009 and is committed to providing services that build necessary skills for both young and older persons diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and any related Pervasive Developmental Disorders so they may learn to confidently manage challenges when dealing with symptoms of these diagnoses. JOB DESCRIPTION:
Instructional Aides (Adaptive Skills Training Specialists) work one on one with clients (ages 5 to adulthood) in both their home and the community in order to assist them with mastering independent living skills.
Each client has a team of Instructional Aides helping them reach their developmental goals. Program goals are created by the clinical team and are implemented by the Instructional Aides.
-Position is part time - but additional hours are available based on your availability
-We only promote from within - positions available with promotion are Senior Instructional Aide and full-time Case Supervisor
-We conduct thorough training specific to this field of work
-Behavioral Specialists, Autism Technicians, BIIs (Behavior Intervention Implementation) Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT), or Special Education Teacher Assistants would excel in this position
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Each instructional aide is assigned to several clients; each client has a team of instructional aides led by a case supervisor and overseen by a clinical director.
Instructional Aides are responsible for:
-Driving to client homes as assigned and scheduled for the purpose of conducting one-on-one sessions, either in the home or out in the community
-Conducting sessions (working on the steps towards goal acquisition - for ex: learning how to vacuum, how to ride the bus, how to open a checking account, or how to complete job applications, etc.) with their clients
-Collecting data to record progress on goal acquisition
-Communicating with the case supervisors and the administrative team via email and phone call or text messages according to company policy

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Prior experience working with children with autism or related disorder
-Bilingual
-MS or MA degree (or degree in progress) in education, psychology, counseling, nursing, social work, applied behavior analysis, behavioral medicine, speech and language, rehabilitation, marriage and family therapy, or a comparable degree in a human services field.
