Hi! We're a successful boutique landscape design / build firm in Los Angeles. We're looking for a very experienced landscape / hardscape designer to assist us with new upcoming designs.
QUALIFICATIONS WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Ideally 4+ years of experience heading up projects for another established landscape design firm or with 6+ years experience working on their own larger-scale projects.
Some kind of formal education in landscape / hardscape design.
Upbeat and driven to create beautiful things while having a lot of fun doing it with a fun, creative team.
Very knowledgeable in working with California native plantings and their characteristics, growth habits, ideal planting conditions, etc.
Knowledgeable in working with LA County fire zone planting guidelines.
Knowledgeable in preparing and submitting landscape / hardscape plans to the City / County.
Experience working with hardscape material vendors so as to research and specify materials for a design.
Ability to speak and write in English fluently. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus but not necessary.
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills with clients and contractors.
Able to confidently and smoothly present a complete design to a client, and run the whole design through from initial consultation, preparing and presenting design, detailing out the design elements, coordinating outside engineers / consultants, turning design over to contractor for bidding, and design coordination during installation phase.
Has reliable transportation with a valid current drivers license.
Proficient with AutoCAD to prepare plans or currently works with an autoCAD draftsman to quickly prepare plans.
Proficiency with Sketchup or another rendering software is a plus but not necessary.

Low voltage landscape / string / tree lighting
Fencing and masonry walls
Wood decks & pathways
Fountains
Fire features
BBQ islands
Paver / stone / brick / cement patios & pathways
Shade coverings such as pergolas, slide-on-wire fabric shades, etc
Other masonry items such as garden walls, benches, etc
Schematic layout of pools within our designs, but we don't engineer or build them
COMPENSATION:
Project-based compensation either flat fee proposed by you, or hourly. We would pay you as an independent contractor and you would represent our company.
