SolidWorks Designer/Draftsperson

Studio Cortez, a steel door and window design and fabrication company, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SolidWorks Designer/Draftsman to join our team. This role requires more than technical proficiency — we're looking for a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment dedicated to continuous improvement, product evolution, and changing client needs.

Responsibilities:

Produce precise and buildable fabrication drawings, step files, dxf files, etc using SolidWorks.

Edit and manage an existing library of models and drawings in SolidWorks PDM, ensuring they reflect current standards, design changes, and client requirements.

Actively participate in design development meetings, understanding the product in order to contribute meaningful feedback and translate design decisions into complete, accurate drawings.

Coordinate with project managers, fabricators, and vendors to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with production capabilities.

Maintain drafting documentation that supports smooth transition between departments.

Required Qualifications:

Proficient in SolidWorks (minimum 5 years professional drafting experience).

Experience using SolidWorks PDM for managing and revising models and drawings.

Ability to adapt to regular design and workflow changes with a constructive and solutions-oriented mindset.

Strong understanding of sheet metal and steel fabrication, door & window fabrication, and glazing a plus.

Excellent attention to detail and organization.

Effective at communication of needs and of timeframes for work completion.

Capable of working managing multiple revisions under tight deadlines.

Comfortable managing legacy designs and updating them for current use.
