Seeking Experienced Bakery Production Manager for Iconic Los Angeles Bakery-Cafe

We are searching for a manager with a passion for excellence to lead our pastry department. This pivotal role involves a blend of creativity, leadership, and management skills to uphold our bakery's reputation for delicious cookies, muffins, scones, cakes, pies, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management: Develop and maintain an efficient pastry department by managing all aspects of the pastry team – from hiring and training to motivation and performance reviews.

Quality and Cost Control: Implement portion and quality control standards, manage costs associated with labor and waste, and ensure high standards of cleanliness and organization within the pastry kitchen.

Production Planning: Oversee order accuracy, assist staff as needed, anticipate orders, and plan production to handle seasonal surges and catering.

Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure the pastry kitchen complies with health department regulations, maintain cleanliness, and manage food safety and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education/Experience: Culinary Arts Degree or 4-6 years of relevant experience. A combination of education and experience is also acceptable.

Communication and Math Skills: Strong ability to read, write, and communicate effectively. Proficiency in calculations for recipe adjustments and production planning.

Bilingual English/Spanish

Technical Proficiency: Knowledgeable in word processing, spreadsheet software, and Google platforms.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Experience in managing a team, creating and updating schedules, conducting performance evaluations, and addressing staff concerns.

Additional Requirements:

Flexibility: Availability to work various shifts between 2:00 AM and 3 PM. A typical schedule runs Monday-Saturday, with occasional need outside these hours, especially during holidays or special events.

Physical Demands: Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds and withstand the physical demands of a busy kitchen

environment.
