Cook for a Japanese Cuisine – Hand roll and Izakaya bar by Akira Back
Who We Are:
We are a new intimate handroll and izakaya bar concept in Koreatown, working with renowned chef Akira Back. The menu will feature specialty handrolls, izakaya, desserts, and alcoholic beverages.
About the Position:
Part time and full time position pays minimum wage, plus customer tips/gratuities. Earn up to $20-$25 per hour, although this is an estimated pay and may vary.
The Hot Line Cook understands that customer satisfaction always takes top priority and that an efficient restaurant operation with a properly trained and motivated supporting staff makes that possible. The Cook will prepare and support the kitchen team with clear communication and a team player attitude.
Core Duties:
- Execute precise preparation and cooking of various Japanese dishes including but not limited to fried dishes, pan fried dishes, and other hot items according to the restaurant's high standards and recipes.
- Participate in FOH daily lineups and staff training of the menu with daily tasting.
- Efficiently manage the hot line station, ensuring that all ingredients are prepped, organized, and ready for service.
- Work closely with the kitchen team, including the Head Chef, Sushi Chefs and other cooks, to ensure smooth service flow
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment. Regularly clean and maintain cooking equipment and workspaces.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Line Cook or Hot Line Cook in a high-end Japanese or Asian restaurant.
- In-depth knowledge of Japanese cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred but not required.
- Commitment to high standards of food quality, presentation, and kitchen cleanliness.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring repetitive motion.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Experience:
Restaurant experience: 1-2 years minimum
