The Host role is a crucial part of Dialog Café’s customer service department.
The purpose of the Host role is to directly support Management, with focus on day-to-day service and guest engagement. A strong focus is placed on ensuring the highest standards for service, consistency, and flow . The Host is usually the first person guests interact with. They set the tone for the dining experience, seat guests in an efficient manner while accommodating any special requests they may have, and perform other duties as needed throughout the restaurant
Host role duties and responsibilities:
-Welcoming guests in a warm and friendly manner
-Providing guests with menus and answering any initial questions
-Providing guests with recommendations
-Table touching and figure 8s
-Continuous engagement with guests to ensure they are satisfied with experience
-Responding to complaints and helping management resolve such issues
-provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists
-Able to communicate efficiently and effectively with walkie system
-Cater to guests who require special attention (elderly, disabled, pregnancy)
-Providing friendly and accommodating service with good vibes and good energy
-Line control and seating guests in a fashionable manner
-Managing line activity to determine flow
-Performing opening and closing duties, in accordance to checklist
-Running food and bussing tables
-Achieve high quality and maintain high standards, whether they are supervised or not
-Assisting the team with other side work, including but not limited to, roll ups, sweeping, cleaning, stocking, etc
-Helps fellow team members and other departments wherever necessary, to maintain positive working environments
-Assisting with VIP guests
-Maintaining good relationships with the community and receiving feedback via Yelp and Google reviews
Required qualifications and skills:
-High School Diploma or GED
-Customer service experience
-Valid ABC license and Food Handlers certificate
-Understanding of restaurant etiquette
-Familiarity with Health and Safety regulations
-Excellent communication skills
-Complete knowledge of all food and drinks
-Critical thinking skills and adaptability
-Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
-Able to lift 50 lbs
-Willingness to follow instruction and ask questions for any clarification
-Ability to handle money accurately and operate a Point-Of-Sale system
