Blu Jam Cafe is hiring Host/Hostess for 6 locations. Atwater, DTLA, Melrose, Brentwood, Sherman Oaks, and Tarzana.
Job Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to welcome guest upon entry, organize seating arrangements, table turn velocity and introduce the Blu Jam Concept. Warmth and an engaging smile are the two key elements of the Blu Jam Cafe host position standard.
Job Requirements
1. Cover the restaurant entry way with an extreme sense of urgency and glowing smile.
2. Direct guest through the waitlist while pointing out the menu QR Code. Suggest to the guest to have their order ready before they are seated.
3. Guide guests to an open table.
4. Pull chairs for guests.
5. Point out the table ordering QR code and guide the guest to the online ordering site while using their cell phone.
6. Inform guest they are welcome to order at the counter.
7. Let guests know that we do not accept cash as a form of payment.
8. Before leaving the table please say the following sentence with eye contact and a smile “Thank you for joining us, please enjoy your meal.”
9. Assist with 3rd party delivery traffic flow, direction and completing orders.
10. Assist in resetting all tables in a timely manner when possible.
11. Help run food with sense of urgency when possible.
12. Set timer every 30 minutes to remind/complete restroom checks
13. Always maintain and front door cabinets or shelving areas visible to guests.
14. Work with bussing team to organize booster seat, highchairs or tables size adjustments during the flow of service.
15. Stock coloring pages and crayons and hand out to the kids.
16. Always say goodbye to a guest as they exit the building.
17. Inspect entrance and patio areas making sure they clean of debris and graffiti. If not bring it to a manager’s attention.
18. Inspect the windows, doors and ledges for cleanliness.
19. Assist with the oversight of lighting and music levels.
20. Help clean restrooms and keep the restrooms checks fully updated.
21. Place umbrella bucket by door on rainy days.
22. Place floor matt by door on rainy days.
23. Guide guests to the restrooms.
24. Make sure the broom and porter are set on hangers and clean before service begins.
25. Check to make sure all booster seats and highchairs are clean and ready before service.
Side Work / Running Side Work
1. Stamp to go bags.
2. Keep and maintain the restroom checklist timer for your entire shift.
3. Remind the busser to clean the restroom every 30 minutes.
4. Clean the windows and doors regularly and keep free of fingerprints of buildup.
5. Keep entrance floor clean and free of water and trash.
6. Assist 3rd party and takeout orders while communicating clearly with the kitchen and baristas.
7. Manage your Meal and Rest Periods and notify a manager when nearing a violation or OT.
8. Help buss or wipe down tables.
9. Run food or barista drinks when experiencing down time.
10. Dust shelves and ledges when experiencing down time.
11. Disinfect the condiment caddies.
12. Clean highchairs and boosters after use.
