Poppy Cake Baking Company in Sierra Madre is seeking a part-time morning bread and pastry baker. Shifts are from 4am-noon, three to four days per week.
We are a from-scratch bakery that makes everything by hand and bakes our breads and pastries fresh every morning. We use natural starter and a long fermentation process for our all-natural bread. We laminate and shape all of our croissant and danish pastries by hand.
To be considered for the position, you must be a self-described morning person, a quick learner, possess a positive attitude, work well with others, and be accepting of constructive feedback. Entry level and experienced candidates will be considered. You must be able to lift 50 pounds and work up to 8 hours on your feet. We are a dynamic team that encourages input from all team members.
Shift responsibilities include:
Mixing, dividing, and shaping naturally leavened breads
Mixing various quick breads, batters, and sweet doughs from scratch
Mixing, sheeting, lining pie shells
Baking bread in our deck and convection ovens
Maintaining a clean work area
Taking daily inventory of prepared product to determine daily and weekly production needs
We make our own viennoiserie, so there is the opportunity to be a part of that production, but it is not directly included in this position. Please note in your response if you have any laminating/sheeter experience or interest.
