Pastry Chef Assistant -Part Time

The pastry assistant works under the direct supervision of the pastry chef. As a pastry assistant, you assist in the day-to-day operations of a bakery or pastry kitchen. In addition to making pastries and bread, other duties include assessing inventory and supplies, maintaining safe and sanitary working conditions, helping develop recipes and menus, and suggesting alternative baking methods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. In addition, other duties may be assigned.

Operate and manage the pastry section of a kitchen, working with the other chefs to prepare various baked goods and pack them as needed.

Preparing pastries and desserts for the restaurant and catering event.

Decorate and present pastries and baked goods tastefully and beautifully monitor and order ingredients, supplies, and equipment

Managing the baking ingredients inventory and requesting the purchase of stock.

Tracking ingredient expiry dates and arranging their use accordingly.

Monitoring the visual appeal and the availability of baked goods on display.

Cleaning the kitchen after business hours and preparing it for the next day.

Maintaining clean and organized station, storage, freezer, and fridge.

Wash and put away the things used to prepare the pastries, desserts, and baked goods.

Ensure the bakery section of the kitchen adheres to health and safety regulations

Supports and implements The Miyako Hybrid Hotel Superior Unique Guest Service Standards.

Understands and follows Hotel-wide and Local Department Standard Operating Procedures.

Reports to the station, ready to work at the time your duty is scheduled to begin.

Knows and understands the hotel policy that regular attendance and punctuality are expected of all employees.

Attends daily, weekly and monthly meetings as required.

Promotes teamwork within the department and among all hotel staff.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and more than one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Food handler’s license
