We are a family owned business that make the great majority of our products in house. We specialize in fresh baked daily pastries and bread, sandwiches and soups, and take away prepared foods and desserts. We use fresh and organic products when we are able and take pride in making simple food that tastes good.
We keep the hours of 8am-3pm on weekends and 7:30am-5pm on weekdays, shifts will typically be 7am-3:30pm. Some or all Weekends will be required at this time.
Pay rates vary depending on job and experience but will be $17-$19 per hour. Partially paid company health care is available to full time employees after 90 days. We are closed most major holidays. We offer a professional work environment and thrive to encourage growth within the team.
Job duties will include, but are not limited to:
-accurately cook, slice and and portion sandwich meats and cheeses
-accurately following recipes and production methods to make salads, sandwiches, soup and entrees to Poppy Cake standards
-working with co-workers to fill catering, special and holiday orders as needed
-maintaining a clean, efficient, and sanitary work station
-properly labeling, dating, and merchandising all prepared foods for sale
-performing an accurate station inventory daily
-maintaining a clean and organized station throughout the day and following close down procedures at the end of each shift
Qualified candidates will possess the following:
-sense of urgency in completing assigned tasks
-some professional kitchen experience or culinary schooling
-experience in knife work, and using kitchen equipment such as blenders, mixers, food processors, ovens, fryers, etc.
-ability to work independently and as part of a team
-knowledge of food safety and possessing a CA food handlers card
-reliable and punctual, also with reliable transportation (we are on the bus route)
