Job Duty Description for Server
Job Summary:
The Server is responsible for providing excellent customer service to ensure a pleasant dining experience for all guests. This role involves taking orders, serving food and beverages, and managing various customer requests with professionalism and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Greeting Guests: Warmly welcome guests upon arrival, escort them to their tables, and provide menus.
Taking Orders: Accurately take food and beverage orders from guests, ensuring special requests and dietary restrictions are noted.
Serving Food and Beverages: Deliver food and beverages to guests promptly and ensure that orders are correct and served in a timely manner.
Customer Interaction: Check on guests throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction, address any concerns or complaints promptly, and provide solutions.
Menu Knowledge: Possess thorough knowledge of the menu, including daily specials, ingredients, preparation methods, and potential allergens to answer guest questions effectively.
Upselling: Suggest additional items such as appetizers, desserts, and beverages to enhance the dining experience and increase sales.
Table Maintenance: Keep tables clean and organized, clear dishes and glasses between courses, and reset tables for the next guests.
Billing and Payment: Present checks to guests, handle cash and credit card transactions accurately, and return change or receipts promptly.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other servers to ensure efficient service and a positive dining experience.
Sanitation and Safety: Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, hygiene practices, and maintaining a clean work environment.
Problem-Solving: Handle any service issues or guest complaints with professionalism and escalate to management when necessary.
End-of-Shift Duties: Complete end-of-shift duties such as side work, cleaning, restocking supplies, and preparing for the next service period.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience as a server or in a customer service role preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of food and beverage service, including wine and cocktail service, is a plus.
Basic math skills for handling transactions.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods, carry trays, and perform repetitive tasks.
