As an Independent Living Services (ILS) and Supported Living Services (SLS) trainer for UP-LIFT, you can join a dynamic team to change the world, one person at a time. In this exciting position, the ILS/SLS trainer will work on a 1:1 basis with an inspiring and unique client with a developmental disability. Part time (16-30 hours per week) and full time (31-40+ hours per week) positions are available.

Rate: $17- $23 DOE
All DSPs must be comfortable and willing to commute to the following areas of Los Angeles:
Mid-Wilshire North of the 10 fwy, DTLA, Pasadena, Glendale, La Canada Flintridge, Burbank, Hollywood, and Los Feliz.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Personal care assistance: Helping with bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, and other personal hygiene needs.
· Medication management: Administering medications as prescribed and monitoring potential side effects.
· Community integration: Accompanying individuals to appointments, social events, shopping, and other community outings.
· Skill development: Teaching life skills such as cooking, cleaning, money management, and basic communication.
· Behavioral support: Implementing behavior management plans to address challenging behaviors.
· Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of client activities, progress, and any incidents.
· Advocacy: Representing the needs of individuals with disabilities to service providers and family members.
· Transportation: Providing safe transportation to appointments and activities as needed.
· Home maintenance: Assisting with household tasks like cleaning and laundry.
· Communication and collaboration: Working closely with other healthcare professionals, family members, and case managers to coordinate care.
Required skills and qualities for a DSP:
· Compassionate and patient attitude: Ability to provide support with empathy and understanding to individuals with diverse needs.
· Strong communication skills: Effective verbal and written communication to interact with clients, families, and colleagues.
· Physical ability: Capability to assist with physical tasks like lifting, transferring, and mobility support. Ability to lift, push, pull up to 40-50 lbs.
· Attention to detail: Accurate documentation and adherence to safety protocols.
· Flexibility: Adapting to changing situations and individual needs.
· Teamwork: Collaborating effectively with other staff members to provide
Qualifications
· 1+ year of experience working in a caregiver role or as a direct service provider to adults with disabilities OR familiarity with health care, 1:1 service or supporting the success of people with developmental disabilities.
· A High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required
· Complete a criminal background check and DMV driving record check
· Valid Driver’s license
