The Medical Cannabis Practitioner Program teaches health care providers how to provide informational services and cannabis products as a Medical Cannabis Practitioner.
What is a Medical Cannabis Practitioner?
The Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (formerly Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) recognizes cannabis as a non-standard medical treatment option under the Category “Biologically Based Practices”; and the individuals who provide cannabis products, as Integrative Health Practitioners.
Federal restrictions on the information a physician may provide to a patient regarding cannabis, have left many patients without the critical knowledge needed for its safe and effective use. This includes information on potential drug interactions, delivery methods, dosing, titration, side effects, overdose, and specialized formulas for specific medical conditions. As more patients seek cannabis for its medicinal benefits, the need for skilled and knowledgeable medical cannabis practitioners is rapidly increasing.
