Job Overview:
To provide nursing skills to patients and clients of Whole Life Health MD, including excellent IV and phlebotomy skills. Excellent administrative skills are required as well; learning our EMR, ordering labs, explaining lab kit procedures, back office inventory, and educational support to patients.
Back Office staff will use his/her experience and clinical knowledge to fulfill various roles within the medical office. Those roles will include, but not be limited to direct patient care, patient counseling, and administrative tasks. The Back Office staff will report directly to the operational manager and Dr. Dawn DeSylvia.
Duties:
Prepares patients for visits, works with the front office to check patients in; take vital signs and prepare patients for appt. with their healthcare provider.
Assist back-office by gathering needed supplies.
Operates within HIPAA guidelines on confidentiality.
Performs IVs and phlebotomy procedures.
Enters Labs accordingly.
Assist as needed in set-up, cleaning surface areas, and restocking the exam room.
Maintain order and cleanliness of IV room, workstations, and general clinical area.
Reports any malfunctioning equipment.
Attends all necessary training and meetings to be updated on policies and procedures.
Maintains a professional and positive attitude while interacting with patients and other staff members.
Ensures consent forms are signed and the patient is given a chance to ask questions before any treatment.
Works with the front office staff to ensure the patient has all required lab kits/orders before their checkout.
This position is not responsible for discussing lab results or making treatment plan recommendations without the provider's consultation.
Responsible for ordering back office supplies as needed and assisting with patient-needed supplements.
Experience:
To be successful in this role, you should have the following experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, LVN or Paramedic
- Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques
- Knowledge of acute pain management strategies
- Understanding of occupational health practices and assessments
Requirements:
- Valid Registered Nurse or vocational Nurse license in CA
- HIPAA Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- IV Certification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
