We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced HR Specialist with expertise in both Federal and California State Labor Laws to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time, permanent position where you will play a critical role in managing and ensuring compliance with employment laws, providing strategic HR support, and ensuring a positive workplace environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Legal Guidance: Provide expert advice on federal and California labor laws, ensuring that all company policies and practices are in full compliance with both state and federal regulations.
Employee Relations: Serves as a point of contact for employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and employment law questions.
Recruitment & Onboarding: Lead the recruitment process, ensuring that hiring practices align with legal requirements. Guide new hires through the onboarding process, ensuring compliance with all necessary paperwork and training.
Training & Development: Conduct training sessions on topics such as harassment prevention, labor law compliance, and best HR practices for managers and employees.
Benefits & Payroll Compliance: Work closely with payroll and benefits departments to ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, benefits administration, and related state and federal requirements.
Policy Development & Implementation: Develop, review, and update employee handbooks, policies, and procedures in compliance with evolving federal and California state law.
Dispute Resolution & Investigations: Lead investigations related to workplace issues, complaints, and potential violations of labor laws. Address grievances and assist in resolving conflicts.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of HR experience with a strong focus on both Federal and California State labor laws.
Certifications: Preferred certification in HR (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP).
Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of federal and California state employment law, including but not limited to wage and hour laws, discrimination, harassment, FMLA, ADA, and workers’ compensation.
Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
