Human Resources Generalist
A growing fast paced distributer seeks a full time HR Generalist to oversee the day-to-day processes of payroll, recruiting, and HR record keeping while current Senior HR Generalist is out on maternity leave. This is a temporary position where you will assist with essential HR functions, including recruitment, employee records management, onboarding, as well as other tasks such as but not limited to: performing inventory and ordering janitorial and office supplies for two facilities, payroll support, etc. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional setting.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
Review biweekly payroll data including new hire and termination of employee information.
Work with management with any time and attendance issues for payroll approval.
Full execution of the recruitment process for designated positions throughout the company to include job posting, phone interviewing, job interviewing, regular communication with candidates and managers, reference checking, background checking, etc.
Manage the onboarding process for all new employees by maintaining new hire and employee paperwork and reporting, with a Paylocity HRIS system.
Understand and keep up with wage and hours law changes and payroll taxes and technology.
Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Administer employee benefits. Oversee the employee benefits programs including medical dental, life, disability insurance, supplemental medical and 401k.
Maintain and track FMLA records and any other leave of absence to ensure the process is executed fully and correctly.
Maintain a safe environment, understand workers’ compensation, and keep a good relationship with company medical office.
Coordinating company events
Responsible for office supply and Personal Protective equipment shopping online.
Responsible for preparing routine and advance correspondence including letters, memoranda, and reports.
Preferred candidates will possess:
Bachelor’s degree in a business field (preferred but not necessary)
At least 1 - 3 years’ experience in Human Resources
Solid technology skills – adept with Payroll HRIS product (Paylocity, ADP etc.)
Experience in a distribution warehouse HR environment
An approachable style, exceptional active listening skills, a relentless quest for accuracy and completion of work
