Sylmar based pest control business is looking to hire an additional pest control technician
The pay? Starting is $20/hour (with no experience) and goes up to $40/hour depending on experience and licenses held.
(40% of our staff are paid above $32/hour).
We don’t work nights.
We don’t work holidays.
NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO APPLY but those with a background in pest control will be paid commensurate with their experience and licenses held.
EACH EMPLOYEE WE HAVE HIRED THUS FAR HAS HAD ZERO PEST CONTROL EXPERIENCE.

Job description entails:
The job entails spraying and working with pesticides around residential, industrial, and institutional settings—involves mixing, understanding, and applying chemicals in accordance with state and federal law.
Employees walk an average of 3 miles a day around job sites.
This is an OUTDOOR job (no sitting behind a desk all day staring at a computer screen), and a lot of driving from place to place is done daily.
This is definitely NOT LIKE A RETAIL JOB: we typically don’t work nights, weekends, or holidays.
Since we prefer to train our own employees, we really don’t need you to have a background in pest control. This is a great job for RECENT HIGH SCHOOL grads or COLLEGE students who are new to the job market.
Candidate must be able to maintain accurate, organized, and careful records, and must be a good communicator in interactions with customers. Candidate must have problem-solving and time-management skills, and be reliable and punctual. Candidate must also be able to work alone for long periods and be comfortable with their own self-accountability on the job.
The starting wage is $20 an hour. You are required to pass a series of 3 state mandatory tests. Upon successful completion of these tests, there will be a pay increase to $26/hour.
Please note the following:
1. You must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Any DUI in the last 10 years is an automatic disqualifier (due to auto insurance stipulations).
2. You must be available 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM.
3. You must be able to work outdoors, all day, out in the hot sun or misting rain, carrying the equivalent of 35lbs of pesticide in a backpack sprayer wearing long pants (jeans) and a long sleeve company shirt.
4. The State of California now requires that ALL pest control employees undergo a "Live Scan" background check, and the State can deny a license based on material that is found in a background check.
5. All hires must pass a 90-day probationary period before they are considered "permanent" employees.

Physical Requirements: This an ambulatory position requiring the ability to quickly navigate yards and landscaping, homes, buildings, apartment complexes, climb stairs and into attics, crawl under buildings, squeeze into tight spaces, get in and out of the car, and drive regularly. It also involves sitting in the car for some long stretches while in traffic; must be a whiz with the greater San Fernando Valley geographical area or be comfortable navigating high volume traffic areas, and have a good driving record + auto insurance. You should also enjoy keeping hydrated and applying sunscreen daily.
