Candidate Description
A successful person in this role will have an eye for design, be meticulous and naturally curious. They will have a strong desire for their work to result in a high quality product for the end user. They will be eager to understand the needs and expectations of the client and the capabilities of the technology available to them. They will be able to visualize the result of their work through the eyes of the end user and anticipate what their experience will be like.
Position Summary
The design associate will be primarily responsible for documenting and detailing how the technology will interface with the building and the end users. They will take primary input directly from the stakeholders as well as system parameters from the sales team and produce drawings, installation plans and performance specifications for the installation team to implement.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Responsible for the pre-sales design of new systems
- Provide product research, design and engineering required to produce documentation for installation of audiovisual systems
- Work closely with sales team designing AV systems, as well as working with end users, architects and other professionals to assess technology requirements and needs analysis
- Create and assist sales team with scope of work/executive summary
- Provide sales assistance in/with developing proposals and estimates for clients and develop system sketches, bills of materials, and needs analysis documents
- Identify and solve issues that will impact the project and schedule
- Provide daily project updates/communication with clients and sales team
- Participate in contract process and project administration when needed/required
- Complete technical drawings and wiring diagrams using Sketchup, Visio, D-Tools, & other programs as necessary.
- Support project manager through completion of project
- Supports onsite project lead with infield issues throughout project Perform and assist with pre-project site survey
- Attend pre-construction meetings.
- Help define A/V installation best practices and refine associated procedures, templates, tools, and documentation
