The purpose of the Material Handler is to assist warehouse and manufacturing departments with day-to-day inventory movement. Material Handlers are responsible for a variety of duties, including moving, pulling, lifting, sweeping, etc. Must have stand up forklift experience.
Essential Responsibilities
Performs material handling, packing, and miscellaneous warehouse duties
Acts in a safe manner at all times
Load and unload delivery trucks/trailers
Supporting manufacturing departments with material movements to and from their work areas
Locating and selecting specific raw materials that vary depending on production run and SKU being produced
Staging all raw materials in designated staging lanes. Ensuring all inventory transactions are correctly recorded in WMS system using handheld scanners. Palletizing, wrapping, and labeling/relabeling all finished pallets. Following all warehouse safety procedures for operating equipment
Carry out cycle counts as directed by Inventory Control Specialist
Maintain safe and clean work environment by keeping workstations, dock areas, and other respective areas in the plant clean prior to ending your shift and transferring work duties to incoming shift material handler.
Responsible for compliance with food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements
Adhere to applicable prerequisite programs (PRP) per HACCP requirement
Support requests for taking samples or pulling material for evaluation
It is the responsibility of every employee including temp workers to immediately report to Management the discovery of contamination in any area of the production facility that constitutes a risk to product and/or personnel safety
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required and necessary
Work Environment
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate & occasionally loud
Must be able to wear PPE entire duration of shift
Qualification
Prefer 2+years of stand-up forklift experience (testing done onsite)
Must be able to read and write in English, as well as have basic proficiency in math and computer knowledge
Able to work 8 hour shift; day shift (7am), swing shift (3pm), or night shift (11pm) (Warehouse Dept)
Able to work hybrid 12-hour shift (Recycling Dept.)
Able to work hybrid 10-hour shift (Manufacturing Dept.)
Ability to work overtime as required
Previous shipping/receiving or material handling experience preferred
Manufacturing candidates to be flexible and able to work weekends or holidays to meet production demands
GMP and SQF compliance knowledge preferred
Salary range
The anticipated salary range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00 per hour and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, years of experience and working location, as well as the specific position's business needs, scope and level. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions as needed.
Requirements
Must have minimum 1+ year of stand up forklift experience in manufacturing environment
High School Diploma or GED required
Candidates who meet job criteria must pass stand-up forklift assessment test (given on-site)
Forklift assessment tests are done on Mon, Wed, Friday, from 8am - 9am, must have appointment
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to wear PPE duration of shift, where needed
Plant is 24/7 in some departments, weekends, holiday, and overtime availability needed.
