Overview:
Part-Time (5-10 hours/week)
$20 per hour based on bilingual skills
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Mentor to join our Adoption Promotion and Support Services team. The Mentor will partner with pre- or post-adoptive clients and parents to offer encouragement and support before, during and/or after the adoption process. This position requires a commitment to fostering positive relationships, promoting personal growth, and ensuring the well-being of those in our care.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Willingness and availability to meet with clients in the community, but could be by phone, email or virtual technology, at least 1x per month; must meet face-to-face with clients at least 1x per quarter.
Respond to and attend to details of crisis situations which may arise during work (and non-work hours, if appropriate).
Offer insight and learned knowledge into the adoption process and share personal experiences through informal relationships, trainings and consults.
Team with the Case Manager to identify/support referrals to necessary community resources.
Offer general assistance through the adoption process.
As needed, mentor children in adoption process, including talking with youth who express hesitancy towards adoption.
Attend and present at various community functions.
Assist in engagement and utilization of linkage services and assess for appropriateness, in collaboration with the case manager, as needed.
Complete monthly and quarterly reports that communicate quality treatment services (i.e. activity logs, special incident reports, progress notes, completion/termination summaries, etc.) in a timely manner and submit to Director by deadline.
Serve as facilitator of monthly parent support groups, as required by supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have had personal experience being adopted OR adopting a child through the dependency system.
Must speak, read and write fluent Spanish.
Mentors who serve adult/guardian client(s) must be a previous adoptive/foster parent with experience including foster/adoption or holding a role as a resource parents/prospective adoptive parents who have had a positive experience with adoption; or adult adoptees.
Mentors who serve child/youth client(s) must be one of the following:
An adult adoptees, including persons adopted as children or as an adults under age twenty-six (26)
Former foster children who resided in foster care for at least three (3) years and who have had a positive experience with adoption
Former adoptive parent(s) (including kin and foster/adoptive parents); or resource parents/prospective adoptive parents who have had a positive experience with adoption; or adult adoptees.
Must demonstrate ability to manage impact of personal adoption narrative as to allow healthy and helpful support to assigned clients.
Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
