Outreach Specialist

Our organization is currently seeking a part-time Outreach Specialist to support homeless women with a history of incarceration. This role focuses on helping individuals set goals and access resources to regain stability.

Job Duties for Outreach Specialist

1. Conduct Outreach Activities:

- Engage with homeless women in the community to identify their needs and challenges.

- Build trusting relationships to encourage participation in available services.

2. Assess Needs:

- Perform assessments to understand individual situations, including housing, employment, and health needs.

- Develop personalized action plans to address barriers and set achievable goals.

3. Provide Resource Information:

- Connect clients with resources such as housing programs, expungement resources, counseling services, and employment job training.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of community resources and services.

4. Facilitate Workshops and Support Groups:

- Organize workshops on life skills, job readiness, and wellness topics tailored to the needs of homeless women.

- Create a supportive environment for group discussions and peer support.

5. Advocate for Clients:

- Act as an advocate for clients in accessing services and navigating systems (e.g., housing, other nonprofit providers).

- Empower clients to voice their needs and advocate for themselves.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

- Maintain accurate records of client interactions and progress.

- Prepare reports on outreach activities, client outcomes, and program effectiveness.

7. Collaborate with Community Partners:

- Work closely with other service providers, shelters, and community organizations to coordinate services and support.

- Participate in community meetings and coalitions focused on homelessness and women's issues.

8. Follow-Up Support:

- Provide ongoing support and check-ins with clients to monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.

- Assist clients in maintaining housing stability and accessing ongoing resources.

9. Participate in Training and Development:

- Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to homelessness and social services.
