The PS Science Driver oversees the week-to-week delivery and pick-up of the PS Science program materials to and from all partner school sites. The PS Science Driver must be able to communicate clearly with the PS Science Instructors, Science Supplies Specialist, Program Manager, and school site staff to ensure that the PS Science program materials reach the appropriate destinations at all partner school sites and that used materials are collected from school sites and returned to the PS Science Headquarters. The PS Science Driver works side-by-side with the Science Supplies Specialist to ensure that lesson materials reach their required destinations and that Instructors and Classroom teachers know where materials are located and what is expected regarding their use each week throughout the school year program. This job requires weekly driving between the PS Science Headquarters in Inglewood and school sites in Santa Monica, Koreatown, Inglewood, South LA, East LA, and Lawndale to deliver, collect, and return program materials. The PS Science Driver reports directly to the PS Science Program Manager.
Responsibilities include:
Delivery and collection of weekly PS Science lesson materials.
Communication with Program Manager, Science Supplies Specialist, Instructors, and Classroom teachers regarding the weekly lesson materials.
Occasional purchasing of needed materials, and remittance of receipts.
Maintenance and cleaning of the PS Science delivery van.
Other duties as requested by the Program Manager.
The PS Science Driver must have an impeccable driving record and should be an efficient, self-motivated individual, preferably with experience working in shipping, a school setting or the non-profit industry. Strong organizational skills and efficient work ethic are essential. Driver will be driving a mid-sized cargo van and transporting many varied types of materials and must be comfortable with plants, live insects, soil and other materials being transported in vehicle. Candidates must be able to bend, lift and transport materials weighing up to 60 pounds. “Expect the Unexpected” is the nature of our growing and changing program serving a diverse population, and the PS Science Driver needs to be flexible, an excellent multi-tasker, and willing to problem solve and “go the extra mile”. A sense of humor doesn’t hurt either!
This is a seasonal max. 10 hrs/week position from early September through mid June with a starting rate of $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
