We’re The Vanity Portrait Studio (TVPS), a high-end event, headshot, and portrait studio team working throughout California and across the country. We photograph large-scale corporate events, luxury weddings, and on-location portrait studios at some of the nicest venues in California & the country.
We’re looking for a photographer who isn’t afraid to hustle.
You won’t just be handed a camera and asked to show up. This is equal parts photographer + production crew + gear manager.
The Job:
Load gear into a company van, drive to venue, unload, and set up heavy equipment (lights, backdrops, strobes, power cables, etc.).
Build out on-site portrait studios, headshot stations, or event coverage setups according to our technical standards.
Tear down, pack, and transport gear back to the studio at the end of the event.
Maintain, track, and manage gear inventory at our studio.
Photograph headshots, portraits, and events once gear is live.
Attend weekly production & training meetings (Tuesdays, 2pm-3:30pm).
This Role Requires:
You can lift and move gear (up to 75 lbs single items, \300 lbs total using carts).
You have a valid driver’s license, your own car and are comfortable driving a company vehicle (Transit Connect Van).
You own your own full camera kit:
2 DSLR or mirrorless bodies
Lenses: 16-24mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm
2 flashes w/ triggers
Plenty of batteries and memory cards
You have 1-2 years of professional event, wedding, or headshot experience.
You’re fully comfortable with on-camera flash and fast-paced live shooting.
You’re 100% reliable, responsive, and professional.
You can travel as needed (California, US-wide, and potentially international).
You’re flexible to work nights and weekends.
You know that being early is on time.
Pay:
$25/hr for admin, gear handling, & commuting
$50 - $75/hr for on-site loading, shooting, depending on experience and volume worked
