Construction Project Manager - Apprentice

Hinish Design Collective is a creative landscape design - build studio based in Hollywood, developing projects with extensive, custom built infrastructure. Our studio is seeking a passionate, driven and knowledgeable individual interested in managing projects ranging from $75K - $1M. An ideal candidate will have a range of first hand construction experience including masonry, landscape, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and steel fabrication, as well as managerial experience in either construction, service or customer service industries. We DO NOT want anyone with an ego. Our jobsites are collaborative and constructive. Everyone's role is important.

This is an apprentice role. For the first year the project manager will work directly alongside principal assisting in every aspect of project and business management to gain an intimate understanding of our approach and expectations. Pay for the first year is $5,500 per month, PTO and mileage reimbursement. After the first year, pay will increase to $7,500/month, benefits, PTO and project bonuses.

Requirements

- 5 to 10 years first hand construction experience in a range of fields

- Impeccable communication skills. This position requires constant communication between studio principal, sub contractors and vendors

- An eye for design. The ability to make educated decisions around detail details and interpret 3D renderings & 2D plan drawings

- Acute attention to detail and a drive to exceed expectations

- Customer oriented morality. Our role is to ensure the project is executed at the highest level possible, on budget, with the least amount of stress on the client. Always having the client's interest in mind on every decision.

- Must have a great sense of time. The ability to stay on track day to day, and scheduling into the future

- Ability to anticipate error before it occurs

- Experience managing teams in a fast pace environment

- Ability to be on call between 7am and 8pm. Retain flexibility to have a shifting schedule as the demands of projects are constantly changing

- Bilingual English & Spanish

- Ability to drive to multiple jobsites per day. Valid drivers license

- Ability to lift objects exceeding 50lbs

- Pass background check and drug test

Responsibilities

- Daily check in’s at jobsites across Los Angeles

- Cross communication with Principal & sub contractors

- Performing detailed takeoffs on upcoming projects for bid

- Procuring material & labor quotes for upcoming projects

- Management of material orders & scheduling

- Tracking material & labor expenses

- Detailed evaluations of built elements. Determining design details in the field

- Maintain construction schedules. Coordinate with subs & principals to most efficiently and effectively keep the project moving forward

- Uphold design integrity. Assess contractors needs and infer potential solutions that retain the overall design intent.

- Determine elevations in the field

- Painting out designs in the field

- Make quick decisions and pivot on a dime

- Oversee a team of 10+ and manage 3 - 5 projects of varying scale at one time
