Dunable Guitars is a boutique guitar company, located in Bell Gardens, CA, just southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
We are looking for a second painter in our custom shop finishing department. This position covers all aspects of finishing process, from the bare wood detail sanding and prep, through final coat. Buff/polish skills are also a plus. Must be capable and accountable enough to ensure we are meeting weekly production quotas. This job requires someone who is a self-starter, good at budgeting time, and with a high standard for quality control in their own work. We are a small operation with a fun and cool atmosphere, but that requires you to be committed to doing excellent work, and finishing on time.
Responsibilities
Prep stage - detail sanding, final inspection before finish, taping/masking, spraying sealer
Midcoat stage - flat sanding sealer coats, spraying color, clear coats
Final coat stage - flat sanding clear coats, spraying final satin coat or buff/polish
Experience with just some of these duties is acceptable, as long as there is a desire to learn the others.
Qualifications
Previous experience with spraying finish, either in the musical instrument industry or automotive. We primarily use nitrocellulose lacquer, but also polyester/urethane finishes.
Pay
Depends on experience and existing skill set, but we are looking to hire a pro, and pay accordingly, aka better than the last guitar company you were at.
