Position Overview:
As a Funeral and Transport Assistant, you will care for families by assisting with transportation, customer service, administrative duties, and general funeral/arrangement duties. This full-time role may start with reduced hours for training, evolving into a permanent position. Ideal candidates are proactive, detail-oriented, and compassionate — with comfort and skill in professional driving.
Responsibilities:
o Transport decedents and deliver cremated remains to families.
o Transfer cremains to urns and pick up death certificates.
o Safely operate company vehicles for long distances as needed.
o Assist families with sensitivity and professionalism through in-person, phone, and email communications.
o Perform administrative duties including paperwork completion, office tasks, shipping cremains, and arranging memorial services.
o Assist with viewings and memorial services.
o Maintain facility cleanliness and ensure safe handling of remains.
o Participate in marketing, accounts receivable, and other business support activities as needed.
Qualifications:
Detail-oriented with a "can-do" attitude and enthusiasm for the environment and helping people.
Punctual with excellent time management skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to provide exceptional customer service.
Proficiency with office software and basic administrative tasks.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Comfortable driving for long periods of time and navigating various routes.
Physical ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs and work in warm weather conditions.
Previous funeral industry experience is a plus but not required.
