Dedicated Subsitutes Sought
The Waldorf School of Mendocino County seeks at least one energetic and engaging individual to join our team as an on-call Substitute. This person will support our Grades Faculty in presenting an enriching, comprehensive onsite learning program in the 2020/21 school year. Successful applicants will have experience and comfort teaching groups of students in First through Eighth Grade.
This year’s program is atypical, due to COVID-19. There are extensive health and safety protocols in place. Classes will take place in outdoor classrooms; teachers will work with a limited number of students. In order to successfully offer onsite learning to WSMC students, all WSMC teachers must evaluate themselves for excellent health daily. If any signs of illness are present, teachers must not come to campus. Consequently, there is a need for at least one teacher who is available daily from 8:10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. On days when there is a class to teach, lesson plans will be provided. Alternate duties will be assigned on other days. This position may be combined with other available work (Maintenance, Special Subject Teachers, Spanish) if an individual has necessary training and skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior teaching experience
Waldorf teacher training
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
A commitment to Anthroposophy, Waldorf pedagogy and the social ideals that live behind the Waldorf education movement
Strong communications skills that can be effective in working with students & adults
