Starting salary up to $81,835/year,

Deputy Emergency Services Coordinators (DESCs) plan, develop, coordinate, and train stakeholder groups on a variety of emergency-related programs and projects in the Department of Emergency Management. Positions are currently open in the Divisions of Emergency Management and Community Alert and Warning.

The ideal candidates will possess:

Significant emergency management program experience, including experience in long/or large scale emergencies and/or disasters

Emergency Management and/or Public Alert and Warning System coursework

The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with government agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders

Experience maintaining a community emergency alert and warning program systems and emergency-related information technology, software, and hardware

Bilingual English/Spanish Skills are desirable

Department of Emergency Management

The newly established Department of Emergency Management is committed to improving the preparedness and resilience of the community. The Department's purpose is to increase the County's capabilities to mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from county-wide emergencies and disasters. In support of this mission, the Department of Emergency Management is responsible for developing and supporting emergency operation plans for the County, cities, and districts; developing and conducting training and educational outreach programs related to emergency preparedness to the community; and serving as the primary coordination point between County emergency management and Federal, State, and neighboring agencies. The Emergency Management Department also oversees the County's Emergency Operations Center.
