Located on 240 stunning acres in Mendocino, California, Blackbird Farm is a certified organic non-profit homestead offering students the chance to learn about and experience sustainable living and healthy eating while connecting with nature and peers.
We are looking for someone that is experienced and passionate about working farm animals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
-Order and maintain supplies related to specific responsibilities
-Communicate all animal training needs to the Equine Specialist
-Feeding all barn animals and cleaning stalls and pens
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
-Must be able to lift 50+lbs with assistance
-Knowledge of horses and riding
-Knowledge of small livestock chickens, llamas, alpacas, goats, etc.
-Equine therapy experience preferred
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
-Nationally certified program training in horse riding preferred
-Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of equivalent experience in the equine industry (post-high school) preferred
-Experience working with horses and as a wrangler
-Must be willing to complete a medical exam after hire
-Must hold a valid driver’s license for at least the past 3 years and have a clean driving record
Pay: $16.50 per hour
Other:
Shared bedroom available for $300.00 per month
