TOMATO INSPECTORS NEEDED IN MODESTO (Modesto)

Vacancy expired!

Great full time, seasonal job! Employment is through the Processing Tomato Advisory Board. We inspect tomatoes from the loads that are being delivered to the processor. They stop at our dedicated inspection station in Modesto and a small sample is conveyed to us from each load. Ability to read, write, and speak English is required.

Inspection begins in mid-July and runs until about mid-October, and proceeds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Inspectors would be assigned to work either day shift or night shift, typically 4 or 5 days a week. But, the hours and days can vary. There is a two-hour live online training session before the assignment begins.

Our inspection station in Modesto is located a few blocks off of Hwy 99 near the Tuolumne/B St exit. This station is not enclosed. The platform where inspection takes place is fully open on two sides, so that there is an exchange with outside air. Six inspectors at most are working at one time on the large platform. Our workflow is laid out so that social distancing is maintained. Plexiglass shields are in place for any work spot closer than six feet. Masks and gloves are required and will be provided. Hand sanitizer is on site and surfaces will be disinfected each hour. Break times will be staggered and sufficient locations for distancing during breaks are available. In addition, all local guidelines that are in place during the season will be followed.

Applications will be taken in an outdoor setting next to our office in Ripon. Masks are required to apply. Wages are $13.76 to $14.64, depending on proof of current auto insurance and a valid driver’s license.

Please apply at 580 N Wilma Ave., Ste G1, Ripon. Monday to Friday from 9-11 a.m. or 1-4 p.m. only.
