Upcoming Salary Increases and Incentives:

3% COLA effective 7/1/2025

3% COLA effective 7/1/2026

2.5% Education Incentive - Bachelor's Degree

5% Education Incentive - Master's Degree

Equipment Operators are responsible to perform skilled operation of construction, maintenance, and transportation equipment in a variety of maintenance activities, including refuse collection, street sweeping, street repair, water and wastewater maintenance, composting, and other related operations according to required standards; and to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Training Guidelines:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

None required. Maintenance experience involving the operation of light and medium size equipment is desirable.

Training:

High School diploma or GED equivalency.

License or Certificate:

Possession of a valid Class A or Class B Commercial California driver’s license with specific endorsements, as assigned, is required within sixty (60) days of appointment.

Failure to obtain any of the required licenses/certificates within the prescribed time will result in release from probation.
