It is an exciting time to join City of Modesto’s Risk Division as a Safety Specialist!
We are currently looking for a Safety Specialist to help prevent workplace injuries and reduce risk for our employees. In this position, you will travel to worksites to identify potential risks, conduct safety observations, and ensure regulatory compliance. As part of your risk reduction duties, you will promote safety awareness by leading seminars, training programs, and distributing informational material. You will participate in the development and implementation of safety and training programs within the City; review and research training programs; administer the City’s online training management system; and maintain a variety of records and files related to safety and training programs.
Application and Examination Process
The Supplemental Questionnaire is a Training and Experience Exam. In addition to the City of Modesto employment application, applicants must complete and submit online responses to the Supplemental Questionnaire. Only the applicants who meet the minimum qualifications by the final filing date will become candidates and their Supplemental Questionnaire will be rated and scored. This exam will evaluate the relevance, level, and progression of a candidate's education, training and experience. Therefore, your responses to the Supplemental Questionnaire should be thorough and complete because the exam score will determine your advancement in the remainder of this recruitment. Responses to the Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted online; paper questionnaires will not be accepted.
Incomplete Supplemental Questionnaires will not pass the review process; omitted information cannot be considered or assumed.

All candidates who pass the Training and Experience Exam will be placed on the eligible list for the position and may be invited for a selection interview.
