SUMMARY
The instructional assistant is employed by John Muir Charter Schools and is responsible for supporting classroom instruction and increasing one-on-one learning opportunities of youth participating in the Rancho Cielo Youth Campus vocational tracks (Culinary, Construction, Technology and Engineering, Auto/Diesel repair). Rancho Cielo and JMCS’s innovative education programs are designed to provide youth, ages 16-25, with an engaging educational experience that meets individual needs. We combine direct instruction, project work, credit recovery, life skills, culinary, construction or agriculture mechanics training and other academic experiences into a highly personalized high school classroom. These classroom activities are combined with top notch vocational training provided by Rancho Cielo in either a culinary, construction, technology and engineering, or auto/diesel repair academy. Academics operate on a modified block schedule, with all students attending a homeroom approximately ½ of the day and changing classes for core subject area instruction.

About Rancho Cielo Youth Campus
Rancho Cielo is a nationally recognized collaboration; a public-private partnership, that brings expert resources together to benefit those youth who have the fewest options available to them. Its overall goal is to create a safe environment that serves as a viable pathway away from gangs and crime, and one that ultimately leads its graduates to become self-sustaining, contributing members of society. In addition to high school diploma programs, Rancho Cielo participants receive intensive vocational training, life skills and leadership training, case management, and a multitude of additional services providing the tools and services young people need to succeed in self-sufficiency, and the self-esteem it generates for all young people.
The program is looking for an instructional assistant to help supplement the classroom instruction and provide some more one-on-one and small group opportunities to the students.
