We are a vibrant and bustling cafe-bistro located in the heart of Monterey, known for our exceptional organic and hand-crafted food and coffee, warm ambiance, and dedication to providing a memorable experience for our customers. Excitingly, we are opening a second location in the bustling business center of Ryan Ranch, focusing on coffee and take-out service. We are seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused individuals to join our team as a barista and counter service server. Customers at this location are medical and business professionals coming in for a pre-work, lunch or post work coffee and meal.
Responsibilities:
Coffee Preparation - Skillfully prepare and serve a variety of coffee and espresso-based beverages. Ensure consistency in beverage quality and presentation. Keep abreast of coffee trends and participate in ongoing training sessions.
Customer Service - Greet and assist customers in a friendly and efficient manner. Take customer orders accurately and provide recommendations as needed. Process transactions and handle cash and card payments.
Take-Out Service - Efficiently handle take-out orders, ensuring timely and accurate preparation. Package orders securely and neatly, adhering to quality standards. Provide a positive and friendly experience for customers on the go.
Cleanliness and Organization - Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the coffee preparation area and service counter. Assist in routine cleaning tasks and contribute to the overall cleanliness of the cafe.
Product Knowledge - Stay informed about the cafe's menu items, including specials and promotions.
Communicate effectively with customers about the origin and characteristics of different coffee blends.
Team Collaboration - Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth cafe operations.
Communicate effectively with kitchen staff at the main location (The Wild Plum) to coordinate food restock needs.
Adherence to Policies - Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.
Adhere to company policies and procedures, contributing to a positive and compliant work environment.
Starting pay is $18/hour plus tips.
Qualifications - Previous experience as a barista or server in a cafe or similar setting is preferred. Strong customer service skills and a friendly demeanor. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Basic math skills for processing transactions. Valid driver's license to make occasional delivery orders to nearby offices. Flexibility to work weekday mornings or afternoon/early evening shifts.
