Floor Supervisor Job Description:

General Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage daily food and beverage service operations, capital assets, inventory, and profitability at Nepenthe Restaurant and the Cafe Kevah, including large groups, special events, and on-site catering functions.

The right candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

- Advanced knowledge and experience in area of host, waiter, busser, bartender and sommelier service skills, general food and beverage service and production, and on-site and off-site catering.

- Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to communicate in situations requiring tact and poise; skilled in confidentiality and discretion.

- Two years or more of front house food and beverage experience. Experience in management/supervising positions preferred.

Abilities:

- Must be able to adjust tasks and focus with poise, and in accordance with changing deadlines, priorities and circumstance.

- Ability to fluently and accurately read, write, speak, and understand English.

- Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to respond to, and effectively present information about basic inquiries from employees and management.

- Must be computer literate and familiar with word processing and spread sheet applications in a Windows environment. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including accurate grammar and business correspondence knowledge.

- Must be organized, creative, independent and self motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detail oriented, flexible in scheduling and prioritization, and driven by excellence and commitment to high quality guest service.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Employee frequently is required to sit. Employee is generally required to stand; walk on flat and uneven surfaces including, stairs and ramps; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, may have regular exposure to fumes, building temperature fluctuations, dust, noise, chemicals, odors, and outside weather. Other working conditions may include frequent interruptions, working alone, and exposure to computer screens. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
