The Sales Coordinator is a full-time position in the City of Monterey Conference Center. This role is at the forefront of our sales efforts, handling inquiries, follow-ups, and contract processing. The Sales Coordinator ensures seamless coordination for groups considering meetings at our prestigious venue. Acting as a liaison between the city and potential clients, the Sales Coordinator guarantees compliance with all regulations while providing top-notch service. Collaborating with our hotel partners and stakeholders, this position is instrumental in securing business for the Monterey Conference Center.

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, coordinates, and oversees Monterey Conference Center sales and booking inquiries, follow-up for qualification and processing for contract. Serves as City liaison to groups considering meetings at the Monterey Conference Center to ensure compliance with all state laws, City ordinances and policies. Works with staff from City of Monterey hotel properties and external stakeholders to provide coordination, define conditions, field and service incoming leads to secure group business at the Monterey Conference Center.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

This is a fully qualified journey-level professional classification. This classification is responsible for coordinating Monterey Conference Center Sales activities. This classification differs from the Conference Center General Manager in that the latter position has full management and supervisory responsibility over Conference Center Sales and Event Staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent

Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience as sales assistant, sales coordinator or sales manager of an organization or facility engaged in similar group business and events efforts.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:

Must possess a valid California Driver’s License upon time of appointment and be insurable with the City’s standard insurance rate, unless otherwise approved by appointing authority.
