We will have an immediate opening for a full-time Sandwich Maker / Deli Counter Team member. We seek someone with some food preparation experience who can work independently and manage their own time and tasks effectively.
The Sandwich Maker / Deli Counter Team member works a 5:00 am to 1:30 pm shift, Monday through Friday, and is responsible for making a variety of sandwiches that we sell for lunch. This person also helps serve customers in deli, as needed.
This position prepares the daily menu of sandwiches and arranges them attractively for display.
Slice breads, meats and cheeses daily in preparation for sandwich making.
Prepare sandwiches and spreads according to recipes.
Maintain timely pace so as to finish daily sandwich list by 11 am.
Communicate with kitchen team members regarding inventory of prepared sandwich ingredients, especially when stock is low and time does not allow preparation for the next day.
Serve food ordered from the deli. This will including weighing the portions to obtain the correct sales price. Adhere to all safe food handling protocols and procedures.
Greet customers in a friendly manner. Provide product information and employ positive sales techniques.
Operate cash register efficiently and accurately. Be familiar with our policies on handling cash, checks, credit cards, refunds and store credits.
Be courteous and helpful to your colleagues. Proactively offer to assist customers in the retail area of the store when your help is needed.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Cashiering, or prior experience with Deli/Retail Point-of-Sale system, preferred.
Experience using a meat slicer.
Good remedial math skills, required. Examples: Ability to make change, maintain an accurate cash drawer, produce day-end reports, handle weights and measures, etc.
Clear and effective communications skills, a must.
Able to work well with others and function effectively as part of a team.
Well-groomed appearance, personal cleanliness, and friendly personality.
Mental and physical dexterity. Ability to perform the physical requirements of job.
Prolonged periods of standing (8 hours) as well as climbing, bending, stooping, and kneeling.
Unassisted lifting, pulling, and pushing heavy weight (about 50 pounds).
Use cutlery, knives, meat slicer, kitchen equipment and approved cleaning solutions.
Repetitive hand and arm motion and iteration of duties.
Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing cheerfully with customers and colleagues.
Able to handle other projects and responsibilities that may be added at the company's discretion.
Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):
ServSafe Certification is required. You will be asked to attend additional food safety classes, participate in company sponsored training, and/or take food safety quizzes on a regular basis.
