The Avian and Exotic Clinic of Monterey is a small, two doctor practice located in Del Rey Oaks, CA. Our clinic focuses exclusively on exotic pets including, but not limited to birds, reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, rodents, and hedgehogs. We are looking to a veterinary assistant/kennel assistant to join our wonderful team. Experience is preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate.
Specific Duties
-Assists our doctors and technicians/assistants
-Overseeing care for boarding and hospitalize patients
- Clean and disinfect kennels
- Feed boarding and hospitalize patients
- Disinfect and autoclave surgical instruments/packs
-Housekeeping/laundry
-Upkeep of the hospital
-Assist with exams, safe patient restraint, assisting with various procedures
-Assist technician and doctors with hospital patients (drawing up injection, giving medication to patients, giving sub q fluids, etc.)
Qualification and Skills
-Knowledge of computer software such as word, Avimark (we can train you) and excel.
-Willingness to learn
-Cleanliness, organization skills, and excellent communication skills
-Ability to work in close quarters with exceptional teamwork.
-Flexible schedule
-Be comfortable working with birds, reptiles, rodents, rabbits, guinea pigs etc.
Education Requirement
-High school diploma
Our office hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturdays 8am-12pm
