Pharmacy Clerk Summary
The Pharmacy Clerk is responsible for providing excellent customer service, accurately processing prescription orders, managing inventory, and maintaining a clean and well-stocked pharmacy. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently. The Pharmacy Clerk must be knowledgeable about all pharmacy policies and procedures, and must be able to answer customer questions accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be able to pay close attention to accuracy while processing orders.
Pharmacy Clerk Duties
Greet customers and answer their questions about medication and other products
Receive and process prescriptions from doctors and other healthcare professionals
Manage inventory, order and receive merchandise, stock shelves and ensure that products are correctly priced
Handle cash, credit/debit card, and check transactions accurately
Answer the phone and direct customers to appropriate personnel
Ensure that the pharmacy area is clean and organized
Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining records and filing documents

The Pharmacy Technician will process and fill prescriptions. You will also undertake other tasks under the direction of a pharmacist to provide excellent customer service and ensure the pharmacy runs smoothly. As a pharmacy technician you must be detail-oriented and reliable since the job has high responsibility. You must possess excellent communication skills as well as aptitude in using computers.
Responsibilities
Sterilize surfaces and equipment and prepare the pharmacy for opening
Greet customers and answer questions
Receive prescriptions and check their validity
Process prescriptions electronically and ensure all information is complete and accurate
Resolve issues when they arise (e.g. rejected insurance claims)
Select the appropriate medicine and measure dosages to fill prescriptions
Undertake administrative tasks (e.g.record-keeping) as assigned
Educational Requirements:
High school Diploma or Equivalent Required
License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
Possess and maintain a California Pharmacy Technician license in good standing
What else are we looking for?
Prior Authorization experience is highly preferred
Bilingual -Spanish
Physical demands:
Frequent standing; walking, bending; reaching, occasional sitting, pushing & pulling, lifting of materials up to 40 pounds for distances to 10 feet.
Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices including: telephones, beepers, fire alarms, and mechanical failure alarms.
Sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients and other customers.
Able to read information on medication labels.
Expectation:
Start as Part-Time to allow for training and full operation and later change to Full-Time within 90 days or sooner.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am - 6pm. (May include Saturday)
