Cabin community seeks a Resident Caretaker to maintain its 50-acre property
Position Description:
Santa Cruz Mountain community of cabins is seeking a live-on property caretaker to maintain and improve the property and facilities. The Caretaker’s top priority is fire safety and security, followed by systems maintenance, including electrical, water, plumbing, septic, roads, and the swimming pool. Additionally, the Caretaker is responsible for the maintenance, improvements, and cleanliness of the grounds, buildings, vehicles, and equipment. The Caretaker reports to the Board of Directors and coordinates closely with the Buildings & Grounds Committee.
Job Requirements:
· Skilled and experienced with electrical and plumbing maintenance, carpentry, and septic system management
· Skilled with managing and maintaining trees and plants in a forest environment.
· Willingness and ability to learn needed skills and improve existing skills
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to coordinate and collaborate with volunteers, including the Back-up Caretaker
· Attention to detail regarding the physical appearance of common areas, including the recreation area, bathhouses and any shared facilities used by Shareholders.
· Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing a ladder, brush clearing, lifting materials, cutting branches, and digging
· Accommodate Summer Season schedule (Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day), which requires weekend staffing and deferred vacations
· Must have a valid Class C California driver’s license and a driving record that is consistent with company and insurance carrier standards
· Current Certified Water Treatment Operator certification, or willingness to become certified
About the community and property:
Community of 65 cabins and shared amenities on property including a swimming pool, volleyball/basketball court, bocce ball court, horseshoe pits, playground equipment, campfire area, lawn area, creek area, multiple bathhouses, gazebo, snack bar, office, event kitchen, large deck gathering space, roadways, parking areas, pathways, forested areas and open space. The Resident Caretaker will be eligible to utilize all facilities and participate in the special events and activities, including community breakfasts and dinners.
About Caretaker Residence: The Caretaker is provided with an onsite, two-bedroom, one bathroom home with garage and paid utilities Caretaker is required to live on-site.
Special Conditions of Employment:
· Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
· Must possess a valid license to drive in the state of California and be willing to participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) pull notice program.
· Ability to perform grounds keeping duties outdoors through all seasons of weather in developed and undeveloped environments.
· The selected candidate will be required to work all scheduled hours on-site.
