About the Role
Events by Classic Group is seeking a Custodian & Event Support Specialist to join our team. This position plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and upkeep of our properties including event venues, offices, and our commissary kitchen while also providing hands-on support during events. You will ensure our spaces are safe, presentable, and event-ready while working closely with the Facilities Supervisor and other departments.
Responsibilities
Custodial and Janitorial Duties
Maintain cleanliness of all interior and exterior surfaces including floors, walls, windows, ceilings, furniture, and restrooms
Perform sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, stripping, polishing, buffing, and waxing of floors
Clean ceilings, light fixtures, blinds, and windows
Vacuum, shampoo, and spot-clean rugs and carpets
Dust and clean cabinets, furniture, plants, and surfaces
Clean and sanitize restrooms and restock supplies
Safely operate powered equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, pressure washers, and waxers
Maintain custodial and automotive equipment
Follow all safety protocols for chemicals and equipment
Secure lights, doors, and windows when needed
Event Support Duties
Assist with setup and breakdown of event spaces including tables, chairs, furniture, and equipment
Provide custodial and operational support during events addressing immediate facility needs
Collaborate with event teams for smooth execution
Help with truck loading and unloading and moving equipment
Facility Maintenance Support
Conduct regular inspections of assigned areas and report repair needs, equipment issues, or safety hazards
Replace light bulbs and perform minor fixture maintenance
Keep custodial equipment and storage areas organized and clean
Assist Facilities team with light maintenance and repair tasks
General
Perform additional duties as assigned to support operations and events
Work collaboratively with Facilities Supervisor, event teams, culinary staff, cleaning contractors, landscape vendors, and others
Qualifications
Prior custodial, facilities maintenance, or event support experience preferred
Fluent English required and bilingual English Spanish is a plus
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and powered equipment preferred
Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean and organized spaces
Ability to follow directions and work well in a team
Requirements
Valid California Driver’s License with clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and perform manual labor including standing, bending, and handling equipment
Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varied temperatures and noise levels
Availability Friday through Tuesday, eight-hour shifts plus a thirty-minute lunch. Overtime and holidays may be required
